Help Trooper recover from accident injuries that went unattented

Organized by No Greater Love Animal Charity

Invoice explanation
PLEASE NOTE: Invoice totals at the time of the original surgery do NOT reflect any additional costs of revision surgery.... (if found to be necessary am additional office visit and xray costs to check on his healing are penciled in below).....the cost of revision surgery is estimated at close to the cost of the original surgery, but only $300 was added to the amount to be raised should the revision surgery be necessary.

Trooper's clinical condition, progress, and pain levels after several additional months of healing will also be considered to determine if any additional surgical intervention is needed.

Trooper's Story
Hello Everyone,

When Trooper was born at the Brumlow home he was the runt of the litter. He looked most like his labrador mama except for his short legs, which were very bowed at birth. Because he continued to fight for his spot to nurse, he was named Trooper to honor his determination to live. The Brumlows found homes for all the puppies except Trooper (nobody seemed to want a bow-legged runt), so they decided to keep him.

Eighteen months ago a fire completely destroyed the Brumlow trailer. Nobody was hurt, but they lost everything and their home was totally destroyed. That situation put them way behind with many bills, including a trailer payment and land rent; making it hard to afford paying all their bills. Recently, Trooper was hit by a truck in front of the Brumlow's house. Trooper was without vet care for those 2 awful weeks. At Governor's Choice Animal Hospital, Dr. Ronda Buxton determined that Trooper required surgery to remove a terribly injured eye that was very painful. Trooper also had pelvic, hip and ankle fractures. Because he didn't get care in the first 2 weeks after the accident, healing had begun; all options involving re-breaking the ankle and pelvis to prevent future arthritic pain and to help Trooper walk better. If necessary reconstruction surgery is estimated at $500 to repair breaks that started healed badly, which will prevent crippling arthritic pain down the road for Trooper.

Despite all those injuries, Trooper does his best to take a step or two to come when you call him and wags his tail when you pet him. At first he needed to be carried out to use the bathroom. Since the Brumlows were unable to afford his vet bill No Greater Love Animal Charity, a feline rescue, took on the cost of Trooper's surgery after Spay/Neuter Action Project (SNAP) and the Greater Huntsville Humane Society each paid $50 from their emergency funds. Fortunately No Greater Love had the good credit to qualify for a deferred interest Citibank care credit card because the vet had to be paid at the time of service.

Any donation toward Trooper's first surgery expenses and for a future surgery (the detailed invoice can be seen at the link below). We are all very indebted to Heaven and Will Mahle who let Trooper recover from his surgery at their home. It was agreed that he would receive very special care including no more outside time without a dog run and no more sleeping in a cold garage. Trooper will now be an inside dog for the rest of his life.

If you can donate anything...it would be greatly appreciated...no amount too small!!
